Fore! The 2010 PGA Merchandise Show
By Jeff Newsome
The PGA Merchandise Show is one of the largest conventions to come to Orlando each year, posting an attendance of over 40,000 guests with hundreds and hundreds of exhibitors. New products, established brands, and everything in between come to represent at the biggest show of the year. Anyone who means anything in the golf industry offers their wares at the show, which presents a great opportunity to stock up on golf tees, ball markers, and even grab some free beer. Yes, free beer. The more progressive brands, like BogeyPro, offered complimentary beer at their booth, which was a HUGE draw. By sending a model with a rolling beer keg and a sign on her back that read: "Follow me for Free Beer," BogeyPro made the best of their opportunity to exposure the brand to thousands of people.
Conventions are big business for the hospitality industry in Orlando. When a convention brings over forty thousand attendees, they need a place to stay. Beyond that, the guests have to eat. Between hotel rooms, dining, and entertainment, the PGA Merchandise Show infuses the hospitality industry with countless millions of dollars. That is good for the city as well as the individual businesses, restaurants, and hotels.
Golf has always been a well financed sport, so having the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando is fantastic all around. The weather is great, quality golf courses are plentiful, and everyone from the exhibitors to the guests enjoy themselves, get excited about golf, and contribute to the economy of The City Beautiful! Next year, the PGA Merchandise Show runs from January 27-29 and, of course, is at the Orange County Convention Center, the nation's largest.
